The Egan Drive Project is shutting down for the winter season.
SECON & the DOT&PF would like to thank the community for your patience and cooperation this construction season. Some non-ground disturbing work will continue in November and December, which may require minor traffic revisions. Public updates will be provided as often as possible during those times. Regular construction activities will resume in the Spring of 2020. Happy Holidays from SECON and the DOT&PF! Over the weekend, the right-turn pocket onto the Douglas Bridge in front of Juneau Electronics and the Marine Exchange will be closed. Right-turns on-to the Bridge will be allowed via the straight-through lane on inbound Egan. Larger vehicles needing to take right-turns on-to the Bridge should detour around the work zone and access the Bridge via the straight-through lane on 10th Street. Normal bridge access will resume by Monday, October 21st.
All other traffic controls will remain in place between West 12th Street and the Ramada Inn:

While work continues between Whittier Street and the Merchant’s Wharf, SECON and the DOT&PF will shift traffic to the mountainside of Egan Drive near 10th Street. Traffic controls will be in place between West 12th Street and the Ramada Inn. This shift will take place tomorrow, October 10, and will be in place for approximately two weeks.
Over the weekend, right-turns off the Douglas Bridge on-to inbound Egan will be allowed only from the open lane that normally provides access to 10th Street and outbound Egan. Larger vehicles needing to access inbound Egan should detour to 10th Street over to Whittier Street during this time. Normal right-turns off the Douglas Bridge will resume Monday, October 14. The traffic shift between 12th Street and the Ramada Inn has been delayed. An update as to when the shift will take place will be provided as soon as possible. While work continues between Whittier Street and the Merchant’s Wharf, SECON and the DOT&PF will shift traffic to the mountainside of Egan Drive near 10th Street. Traffic controls will be in place between West 12th Street and the Ramada Inn. This shift will take place between Thursday, October 3, and Saturday, October 5, and will be in place for approximately two weeks.
The safety of the traveling public and our workers is our main concern. Please follow designated traffic revisions, posted pedestrian routes, and never enter a work zone. While work continues between Whittier Street and the Merchant’s Wharf, SECON and the DOT&PF will have traffic control on Egan Drive between West 12th Street and the Ramada Inn beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, September 18. This work will last approximately one month.

The Whittier traffic signal will be operational during this time.

Please follow designated traffic revisions and posted detours. ________________________________________________________ Update from Capital Transit: Capital Transit will be making temporary service changes to all routes in Downtown Juneau due to road closures from construction on Egan Drive. All bus stops along Willoughby Avenue will be temporarily closed, starting Tuesday, September 3 until further notice. This temporary service change is expected to last one week. Beginning Monday, August 19, Secon and the DOT&PF will re-open access to Whittier Street on the waterside of Egan Drive. Please be watchful of traffic revisions as this work is weather dependent and may be adjusted as necessary. The Whittier Street traffic signal will not be operational during this time.
