Secon and the DOT&PF plan to replace subgrade material and pave Egan Drive from the Seadrome building to Seward Street. The work will take place in two phases, one being implemented and completed after the other. This work is anticipated to begin the morning of Thursday, July 30th, and each phase will take several days. Traffic restrictions and detours will be in place 24-hours per day. This work is anticipated to take place Wednesday, July 22nd through the end of the week and will be performed for 24-hours per day. Please follow designated traffic revisions, posted pedestrian routes, and never enter a work zone SECON and the DOT&PF will be performing electrical work on the 10th Street traffic signal near the Juneau-Douglas Bridge on Tuesday, June 23. This work will be performed at night from 8pm – 6am. Electrical work will be executed in four stages- one for each of the four traffic light poles in the 10th Street Intersection during ≈20-minute intervals over the course of the night. The following are the anticipated (but not simultaneous) closures for this work:
Pilot cars and drums will be in place to restrict traffic patterns. Once the work has been completed, pilot cars will release motorists to normal traffic patterns and drums will be removed. Starting the week of June 15th, Secon and the DOT&PF will be opening up new work zones near Tesoro Station and the Juneau-Douglas Bridge at the 10th Street Intersection to allow for excavation, grading, and concrete work. While work continues between Whittier Street and 10th Street, Secon and the DOT&PF will be opening a new work zone in front of the Merchant’s Wharf beginning Monday, June 1. This work will require shutting down the Main Street traffic signal. Once the signal is non-operational, left-turns at Main Street will be restricted.

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities plans to close bus access to the City and Borough of Juneau’s Downtown Transit Center for paving as part of the Egan Drive Improvements Project. Due to this work, there will be no bus service at the Downtown Transit Center, Franklin and Front Street, or 4th Street bus stops effective Thursday, May 14. During this time, Capital Transit will stage buses at the Marine Park Plaza; David Lewis; public parking there will be closed. Passengers should catch the bus at the Downtown Public Library or at the temporary bus stop on Whittier Street, across the street from the Alaska State Museum. May 6, 2020 Capital Transit service changes due to 10th Street intersection closure The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities plans to close the 10th Street and Egan Drive intersection for paving Friday, May 8 through Monday, May 11 as part of the Egan Drive Improvements Project. Due to this work, Capital Transit is adjusting routes for all buses servicing Downtown Juneau. Bus service changes go into effect Friday, May 8 and will last until the intersection is reopened.
